Partial Roof Collapse At Tyrone School

KSCB News - March 30, 2009 12:00 am

Tyrone Grade School experienced minor damage when a roof collapsed over the Grade School portion of the school. According to Tyrone Fire Chief, Bart Banning, the roof collapse was due to the heavy accumulation of snow on top of the building. The collapse occured on a secondary roof over the teachers lounge area of the grade school, which caused the melting snow to leak into the school. Over 20 volunteers from the Tyrone Fire Department, Tyrone Police Department, Hooker Fire Department, Texas County Emergency Management, and Tyrone School officials, shoveled snow off of the roof for over 6 hours on Sunday to prevent further damage to the school. There were no injuries in the incident, no major damage to the school, and school is in session today.
