OPSU students selected for co-op delegate program, Four to serve with TCEC Board of Trustees

Joe Denoyer - September 6, 2022 11:08 am

TCEC is excited to announce that four OPSU students have been selected to participate in the TCEC Board Advisory Collegiate Delegate Program. This program engages with younger generations and teaches them about the importance of the cooperative business model. Applications were open to any student currently enrolled at Oklahoma Panhandle State University (OPSU).

TCEC evaluated applications based on the candidate’s interest in business, leadership qualities, personality, community engagement and volunteerism, and academic achievement. Four candidates were selected to participate in the program and receive a scholarship after serving a one-year term. The collegiate delegates for the 2022-2023 school year are:

Carlos Flores, junior from Texhoma, Oklahoma
Catarina Tum Garcia, senior from Guymon, Oklahoma
Jesus Mesta, junior from Guymon, Oklahoma
Julie Johnson, senior from Guymon, Oklahoma
CEO Zac Perkins says that engaging the next generation of members is essential to the success of a member-owned cooperative like TCEC.

“We are excited about this opportunity and confident that our delegates will gain a valuable understanding of our strategy and operations,” said Perkins. “This experience will also help them develop leadership skills they can use throughout their lives.”

Congratulations to the collegiate delegates, and thank you to Oklahoma Panhandle State University for supporting the initiative.
