One Injured in Early Morning Accident in Haskell County

Joe Denoyer - April 27, 2023 10:11 am

A two vehicle accident has injured a Satanta man early Thursday morning. The accident occurred at approximately 6:53 am on US Highway 56 at milepost 65 eastbound (2.1 miles East of the K190/U56 junction). The accident happened when a 2013 Mack semi being driven by Victoriano Garcia, 73, of Satanta was preparing to turn left on to Haskell County Road II from US 56. A 1990 GMC Suburban being driven by Eddie Eugene Massey, 79, of Satanta, failed to observe the Mack truck preparing to turn and struck the rear of the trailer attached to the semi. The Suburban came to rest facing southeast and blocking east and west lanes of U56. Garcia pulled the semi forward and stopped on the side of the road at US 56 & County Road II.

Massey was taken to the Satanta District Hospital with suspected serious injuries, Garcia was not injured
