Oklahoma Unemployment Rate Drops In December

The unemployment rate in Oklahoma was down slightly in December and the rates in the Oklahoma City and Tulsa metro areas also fell slightly while the number in the Lawton metro held steady. The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission reports the statewide jobless rate fell from 6.9 percent in November to 6.8 percent in December. The commission reported Wednesday the rate in the Oklahoma City metro area fell from 6.3 to 6.1 percent from November to December. The jobless rate in Tulsa was down from 7.5 to 7.4 percent while the number in the Lawton metro was unchanged at 6.5 percent. The national unemployment rate was 9.4 percent. Beaver County had Oklahoma’s lowest unemployment rate at 3.4 percent with the highest rate was in Latimer County at 10.7 percent.
