Jose Victor Garcia Martinez, age 61, died on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at his residence in Liberal, Kansas.

He was born on May 14, 1965, in Vio Campo, Durango, Mexico to Pedro Garcia and Sara Martinez.

Jose was united in marriage to Carmen Mendoza on April 14, 2015, in El Paso, Texas. He gave many years of hard work to construction with KUP Energy Services. Jose found joy in music, horse races, trips to the casino, and, most of all, watching his grandchildren play sports. With his warm spirit and lively personality, he was the life of the party bringing laughter, joy, and unforgettable memories wherever he went. Jose was deeply loved, and his memory will be cherished forever by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Carmen Mendoza,

Three sons, Victor Garcia and his wife, Yolidia,

Daniel Gomez,

And Jostin Mendoza,

Four daughters, Sara Moreno and her husband Jose,

Zenia Fabela,

Faviola Garcia and her husband, Hector Esqueda, and

Nimis Mendoza,

Fifteen grandchildren, Aileen Moreno, Ivan Moreno, Natally Moreno, Eli Moreno,

Aliyah Esqueda, Hector Esqueda, Izaiah Esqueda,

Alexia Martinez,

Aaron Fabela, Alizeyah Fabela, Faith Fabela, Jaziel Fabela,

Adelyn Maestas Garcia,

Jeremiah Garcia, Mia Garcia, and

Great grandchild, Liam Mercado

He is preceded in death by his parents, Pedro Garcia and Sara Martinez,

Sisters, Tomasa, Antonia, and

Brother Jose Garcia,

Nephew, Estavan Garcia, and

Sister-in-law, Betty Garcia.

Visitation will be 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM, Monday, July 20, 2026, at the Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Iglesia de Fe y Restaugracion, 920 N Jordan Ave, Liberal, KS 67901. Reverends Oscar and Diana Hurtado will be officiating.

A burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery.
