Mullinville Man Charged in Wife’s Murder

KSCB News - November 10, 2009 12:00 am

A Kiowa County man has been charged with murder in the death of his wife.

Mark Ralstin, 39, was charged with first degree murder during a brief court hearing in Kiowa County today. Authorities said he’s accused of killing his 35-year-old wife Bobbie Jo Ralstin Friday night.

Kiowa County authorities were called to a home near Mullinville late Friday. Officers found Bobbie Jo Ralstin dead from gunshot wounds.

Mark Ralstin was arrested in Reno County early Saturday. Authorities found Ralstin when they went to investigate reports of a burglary at a rural home. The home belongs to Ralstin’s sister.

The murder has rocked the small community. Earl Liggett has known Mark Ralstin and his family for years,”This is a stunner. It wouldn’t cover it to say I’m shocked. I still can’t hardly believe it.”

Bobbie Jo’s friends say she was a wonderful woman who was very strong. She raised three children while going through nursing school.

Mark Ralstin is being held on $1 million bond. His next court hearing is scheduled for November 19th.
