Local Soldiers Graduate

Army Pvt. Laura E. DuBois has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.
DuBois is the daughter of Jan DuBois of Lilac Drive, Liberal, Kan., and Terry DuBois of North Third Street, Rogers, Ark.
She is a 2009 graduate of Rogers High School, Ark

Army National Guard Pvt. Xavier A. Lopez has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.
Lopez is the son of Lupe and Jose Lopez of Cornell Avenue, Liberal.
He is a 2012 graduate of Liberal High School.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.
McElwain is the son of Christopher McElwain of Liberal, Kan., and Elizabeth Hanson of Ramsey, Minn.
