Lightning Strike Ignites Tank Battery

The Turpin Fire Department was dispatched to a Tank Battery Fire Monday evening at approximately 6:30pm.

The tank battery was located 2 miles north of Turpin. The fire department arrived on scene about 5 mins after the fire started and was able to extinguish the blaze quickly. The Turpin Fire Department remained on scene for about an hour. Cause of the blaze was determined to be a lightning strike.
