Liberal Wins Great Bend Invitational

The third ranked Liberal cross country team opened their season with a first place finish at Great Bend Thursday. The Redskins scored 54 points to place first out of ten teams. The top ranked team in 1A, Ness City, placed second with 74 points. Hutchinson had 92. Morgan Riggs led the Redskins with a fourth place finish (16:54). Jaime Minjarez took ninth (17:52). Alejandro Avila was 13th (17:59). Benito Rivera placed 17th.

The LHS girls placed fifth out of ten teams with sophomores and freshmen. Liberal scored 124 points while Buhler won in Great Bend with 57. Destiny Lucero led the way for Liberal taking 18th (18:06). Gabby Galan was 19th (18:21). Flor Parral was 28th. It was the first high school meet for all three girls. Liberal goes to Hesston Thursday. The team will be featured during the Sportsguys Thursday morning.
