UPDAT: Suspect Identified in Attempted Murder Case

UPDATE: The male suspect is identified as Ruben Zarazua, Jr, 37, from Chaparral, New Mexico.

On Sunday, January 31st  at approximately 11:08PM, Liberal Police  Officers were dispatched to the area of Pershing Avenue and Curtis Avenue with regards to an active disturbance between a 37-year-old Hispanic male and a 31-year old Hispanic female. Officers arrived and began an investigation, finding evidence of a physical assault of a female later found in the 1000 block of North Kansas. The female was transported to a local medical facility for treatment and examination.

Seward County deputies were able to locate the male suspect in this case on Highway 83 north of Liberal and detain him until LPD officers were able to respond for questioning. The male was arrested and transported to the Seward County Jail; charges are being filed for Attempted 2nd Degree Murder and will be forwarded to the Seward County Attorney’s Office for review.
