Liberal Police Conduct Accident Investigation

On Monday, January 6, 2020 at approximately 2:21 p.m., officers of the Liberal Police Department were dispatched to the intersection at 8th Street and Kansas Avenue for a reported accident. Responding officers found two accidents involving four vehicles.
Investigating officers found that a 20 year old female was driving a 2016 Chrysler 200 west on 8th Street. The driver ran the stop sign and collided with a 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer driven by a 50 year old female going south on Kansas Avenue.
Investigating officers found that a 25 year old male was driving a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am south on Kansas Avenue behind a 2016 Ford Fusion driven by a 20 year old male. The Fusion yielded to a vehicle awaiting a left turn and was rear ended by the Grand Am. The driver of the Grand Am was looking at the accident at 8th Street and Kansas Avenue and did not see the Fusion stop.
A citation was issued for the driver of the Chrysler 200 for run stop sign. A citation was issued to the driver of the Pontiac Grand Am for inattentive driving. No injuries were reported.
