The Liberal Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire last night at 409 N. Pershing Ave. The alarm was delivered at 1:36 am. First units on scene at 1:39 am reported a fully involved detached garage with heavy extension to the residence and 2-story apartment building on the adjacent property. Additionally heavy fire involvement to multiple fences and downed electrical lines hampered fire attack efforts. There were no injuries reported however, the residents of the home and several apartments were evacuated. All fire units returned to service at 5:30 am and the investigation into the cause of the fire is on-going at this time. Also responding to assist with the incident were the Liberal Police Department and Seward County Sheriff’s Officers, Seward County EMS and American Red Cross.
