Liberal City Commission Meets, Approves Spending Donated Funds For Robotics Program

KSCB News - July 10, 2013 8:42 am

The Liberal City Commission met Tuesday evening at 6:30pm at the City Commission Chambers for their regularly scheduled meeting. Among the items on the agenda the City of Liberal honored retiring Joe Sealy with a plaque for his 16 years of service to the City, most recently as Public Works Director. The Commission also moved to a second reading an ordinance that would rezone a tract of land from R-2 to R-3 Dwelling District. If passed, this would allow a developer to build multiple family dwelling units in the approved area. City Commissioners also voted to allow Jim Bert, Director of the Mid America Air Museum, the authority to spend donated funds to buy more equipment for the robotics program. Robotics teams have increased from 4 – 16, and range from Kindergarden to the 12th Grade. The Liberal City Commission will meet Wednesday evening at 5:30pm in the Commission Chambers for the Not For Profit Funding Requests Presentations. Each group has submitted an application and will be limited to 5 minutes for their presentation.
