Liberal City Commission Meets, Approves Another RHID

The Liberal City Commission met Tuesday evening at 6:30pm for their regularly scheduled meeting. Among the items on the agenda the Commission approved the application for another Rural Housing Incentive District (RHID). This one would be located on North Grant on the east end of Zinnia Lane to the west.

The Commissioners also approved the selling of old 3 yard dumpsters for scrap iron, accepted a grant and approved the spending of those monies for a My Police Department App. for Iphones and androids phones, and moved to a second reading, the General Obligation Refunding Bonds.

The Commission approved a step in grade increase to the sewer rates in the City to repay the Revolving Loans associated with the upgrades and replacement of the Wastewater treatment plant. The last time sewer rates were increased within the City, was 1999.

Commissioners approved a change order to the highway 83 portion of the reconfiguration of the 6 points intersection to include acceleration and deceleration lanes for the Loves Travel Plaza. Loves will be paying for the change order in the amount of $97,184.78.

Pending a clear title, the Commission approved the sale of property to the Pinnacle Group for a future development, and also approved the abatement of property at 217 E. 9th Street.

Commissioners approved paying the City of Liberals portion of the Southwest Kansas Coalitions lobbyist fees with Pinegar and Smith, and after an executive session, approved giving City Manager Mark Hall, a raise commensurate with what othe city employees received.
