Liberal City Commission Meets

KSCB News - July 12, 2011 11:06 pm

The Liberal City Commission met last night for their regularly scheduled meeting at 6:30pm in the City Commission Chambers. Among the items on the agenda, the City Commission moved to a Second Reading, Charter Ordinance No. 35. This would allow certain City Personnel to issue tickets and notices to appear in addition to Police Officers. As an example, Code Enforcement officers could issue citations for code violations. Also on the agenda, the Commission gave Sally Fuller of the Tourism Department to purchase the old Liberal BJ bus for the amount of $15,000.00. The bus would be used for the Kansas Sampler Festival, for Police Training transportation, for Rec Department activities, and various other City related needs. The bus had been checked out and was found to be in good shape. City Commissioners also gave the Liberal Police Department the approval to apply for an Edward Byrne Disparity Grant, and to purchase 4 new tasers for the department. The Liberal City Commission will meet for Budget Sessions beginning at 7:00am Saturday morning.
