Liberal City Commission Approves Steering Committee

The Liberal City Commission met on Tuesday evening and regarding the property at 809 N. Pennsylvania the commission voted to allow the demolition to proceed, but gave the homeowner a 27 day extension.

Commissioners approved Resolution No. 2411 Establishing a Rural Housing Incentive District for the Development of Housing and Public Facilities and Establishing a Public Hearing on the matter on April 23, 2024, at 5:30 p.m.

The commission approved the memorandum of agreement for the training to be sent
back to KU and for the cost to not exceed $12,000. This is for fire training for all the firefighters that can be stationed at the airport. This memorandum of agreement is with the University of Kansas and the Liberal Fire Department.

For the IT Department, purchase of Hardware Refresh and Sonicwall Licensing were approved.

The Steering Committee was approved by the Commissioners. They will be responsible for reviewing
community feedback, prioritizing action plans, and helping to review the content of the final comprehensive plan document to be presented to City Commissioners for adoption. The following 44 individuals have committed to participate in the comprehensive plan steering committee:
