Lady Saints Rout Butler to Clinch Outright Conference Title

The Seward County Lady Saints began Saturday night’s regular season finale on a roll behind Rachel Barnes 23 first half points in route to a 93-46 win over Butler at the Green House.

The Lady Saints led the game 47-24 at halftime and outscored the Lady Grizzlies in the second half by a score of 46-22. Seward outrebounded Butler 48-31 in the contest, and forced 28 turnovers.

Barnes led the Lady Saints with 33 points. Sumr Robinett had a double-double for the game with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Megan Lassley, Kendra Spresser, and Sheila Washington also added 11 points apiece.

With the loss Butler finishes their regular season at 14-16 overall, and 8-8 in the conference. The Lady Saints clinch the outright Jayhawk West Title and finish the regular season at 28-2 overall, and 15-1 in the conference.

Seward could face Butler again as soon as this Friday. If both win their first round games of the Region VI Tournament they would face off again on Friday at Koch Arena in Wichita.

The Lady Saints will host the first round of the Region VI Tournament against Allen County on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The game will air on B107.5 and kscbnews.net.
