KHP Officer Involved In Shooting After Pursuit In Sherman County

On April 23, 2014, at approximately 9:53 p.m., a trooper assisted the Colby Police Department with a pursuit that entered Sherman County. After several attempts to use stop sticks, the suspect vehicle stopped in the westbound ditch of I-70, at milepost 28. After the vehicle stopped, a male suspect, armed with a weapon, was shot. A female in the vehicle was arrested. The male suspect was transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries.

No officers were injured during this incident.

As standard practice and in accordance with Kansas Highway Patrol policy, the trooper has been placed on Administrative Leave while this case is being investigated. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) has been notified and is conducting the investigation in this case.
