Kansas Fire Danger

KSCB News - October 5, 2011 8:20 am

The National Weather Service is warning
of critical fire conditions for most of Kansas as hot, dry and
windy weather sweeps the state.
A so-called red flag warning was posted into Tuesday night for
all but easternmost Kansas. The warning signals a high potential
for fires to spread rapidly and burn intensely.
Weather Service forecasters also issued a fire weather watch for
most of Kansas until Wednesday evening as the low humidity, high
temperatures and gusty winds are expected to continue.
Temperatures reached the 80s and 90s in all of Kansas by
mid-afternoon Tuesday. The next chance for rain doesn’t arrive in
most of the state until Thursday night or Friday.
