Former presidential candidate Mike Huckabee
plans to visit Kansas next week to help a Republican congressional
candidate raise money.
State Sen. Sen. Tim Huelskamp, of Fowler, is one of a half-dozen
candidates seeking the GOP nomination next year in the 1st
Congressional District.
Huelskamp’s campaign says a private reception with Huckabee – a
former Arkansas governor – is scheduled the evening of July 22 at
the Kansas Cosmosphere in Hutchinson. A dinner will follow, with
tickets priced at $100 to $2,000.
The heavily Republican 1st Congressional District includes much
of western Kansas. Incumbent Rep. Jerry Moran is forgoing a
re-election bid next year to run for U.S. Senate.
Huckabee won the Kansas Republican presidential caucuses in
February 2008 but lost the GOP nomination to Arizona Sen. John
McCain.
