…VERY WINDY CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TODAY…

.A STRONG PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL FORM ACROSS SOUTHWEST AND SOUTH

CENTRAL KANSAS AHEAD OF AN APPROACHING UPPER LEVEL STORM SYSTEM.

THIS WILL CAUSE VERY STRONG SUSTAINED SOUTHWEST WINDS OF 30 TO

40 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS UP TO 55 MPH. ACROSS FAR WESTERN

KANSAS…SUSTAINED WINDS OF 40 MPH AND GUSTS TO 60 MPH WILL BE

POSSIBLE FOR A FEW HOURS THIS AFTERNOON.

TEXAS PANHANDLE…

* EVENT…STRONG SOUTHWESTERLY WINDS WILL DEVELOP ACROSS MUCH OF THE

PANHANDLES BY MID MORNING TODAY. IN THE WESTERN PANHANDLES…

SUSTAINED WINDS OF 35 TO 40 MPH ARE LIKELY WITH WINDS GUSTING 50 TO

60 MPH AT TIMES.

* TIMING…WINDS WILL INCREASE DURING THE MORNING AND BEGIN TO

DIMINISH AFTER 6 PM CST. GUSTS WILL BE THE STRONGEST FROM NOON TO 5

PM CST.

* IMPACTS…THESE STRONG WINDS WILL MAKE TRAVEL DIFFICULT…

ESPECIALLY IN HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES. LOOSE OUTDOOR OBJECTS

SUCH AS TRASH CANS AND TRAMPOLINES CAN BE MOVED OR TOSSED. THE

WINDS WILL ALSO KICK UP SUBSTANTIAL DUST…POSSIBLY REDUCING

VISIBILITIES TO NEAR 1 MILE.
