Guymon Police Chief Resigns

KSCB News - October 16, 2012 3:14 pm

Guymon Police Chief Eddie Adamson resigned from his position effective Friday, Oct. 19.

Adamson, who became police chief in Guymon in October 2007, has accepted a job as chief of police in Chickasha, Okla.

In an e-mailed statement, Adamson said, “I am torn with emotion right now, happy that I can move on to a new chapter of my life, and hope that my time in Guymon has been beneficial to the citizens in some way, but I am deeply saddened at how things have turned out.”

Guymon City Manager Ted Graham said the position of police chief will now be posted.

“We will post the position for an opening and that allows the opportunity to either promote from within or hire from outside,” said

Graham.

Michael Babb has been interim police chief for nine months.

“If he chooses to apply he could be the new chief,” Graham said.

Adamson had been on administrative leave for 9 months. He had been cleared to return to work several months ago, but had not yet been reinstated.

“We wish him well and respect his decision to move on,” Graham said.
