Former Saint and BJ Selected in Fourth Round

The 2009 ace pitcher for the Seward County Saints Liberal Bee Jay reliever Bobby Doran got a phone call from a team in his home state Tuesday morning. The Houston Astros selected the 6’6″ right hander from Flower Mound, Texas with the 123rd pick during the fourth round of the MLB draft. The Pirates selected Doran in the 36th round of the 2009 draft. Doran was 5-4 with a 4.35 E.R.A. and 81 strikeouts and 23 walks in 89 innings pitched.

During his sophomore year at Seward, Doran was 10-3 with a 2.58 E.R.A. He worked 92 and one third innings for the Saints and pitched 46 and one third innings his freshman year at Seward. During the summer of 2009, Doran was 3-4 with a 3.49 E.R.A for the Liberal Bee Jays. He had 38 strikeouts and 15 walks.
