Former Legislator Gus Blackwell Injured in Beaver County Accident

A two vehicle accident occurred Friday afternoon at approximately 3:47pm approximately 17.5 miles south and 2.5 miles west of Knowles, OK in Beaver County.

A 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Marvin Lynn James, 78 of Beaver, Oklahoma was eastbound on County Road EW26, while a 2014 Toyota driven by Gus Ray Blackwell, 65, of Laverne, OK was northbound on County Road NS154.

The Tahoe  and the Toyota collided in the intersection.  The James vehicle departed the roadway to the left, coming to rest in the north ditch.  Blackwell’s Toyota departed roadway to the right, coming to rest in the south ditch.

James was transported by Laverne EMS to Beaver County Memorial Hospital in Beaver, Oklahoma where he was treated and released.

 Gus Blackwell was transported by Beaver County EMS to Beaver County Memorial Hospital in Beaver, Oklahoma.  He was then  medi-flighted to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City .  He was admitted in stable condition with trunk internal and leg injuries.
