Fatal Car Crash Claims One Life

A fatal car crash occurred Friday afternoon at approximately 4:00pm. A 2014 Peterbilt semi driven by Earl McDaniel, 47, of Dumas TX was traveling east on Highway 54, 3 1/2 miles west of Hooker when he slowed down to make a right hand turn onto County Road N. A  2003 Chevrolet Venture driven by Eduardo Lopez-Perez, 33, of Hooker, Oklahoma failed to slow down and rear ended the trailer of the semi.  Perez had to be extricated from the Venture, was taken to Memorial Hospital of Texas County where he was pronounced from his injuries. McDaniel was also taken to the hospital, was treated and released.
