Family Nurse Practitioner Steika Rapp Joins McMurry Family Care Center

Joe Denoyer - April 5, 2022 5:07 pm

Liberal, KS – Southwest Medical Center is proud to announce the addition of Steika Rapp, APRN-C, as a nurse practitioner at McMurry Family Care Center. Rapp will work alongside Dr. R. Kelly McMurry, Dr. Paul Reed, and Nurse Practitioner Baolong Do in Guymon, Oklahoma.

Rapp was born and raised in Hooker, Oklahoma. She says she has deep roots in this region.

“I love the panhandle area. It’s where I grew up, and where I consider home. I was born at Southwest Medical Center, so I am very excited to work and be a part of this healthcare system,” says Rapp.

Rapp says she knew she wanted to be a nurse at a young age. She gives her grandmother credit for inspiring her to pursue a career in healthcare.

“My grandma wanted to be a nurse her whole life, and that just implanted in my mind. When I was a little girl, she used to buy me tic tacs, and we would play that I was a nurse handing out medicine. Those memories stuck with me, and then I just kept going until I became a nurse practitioner.”

Rapp acquired her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Panhandle State University. In 2013, she obtained her Master’s degree in nursing from Graceland University in Independence, Missouri. Previously, Rapp worked as a nurse practitioner at Stevens County Medical Clinic for 8 years, serving in immediate care and in-patient settings. Rapp says she is looking forward to her new role as a Family Nurse Practitioner in the Guymon community.

“I do go above and beyond for caring for all individuals like I would if it were one of my family members. I love my patients and I love my job and the commitment to the people. They count on you in their healthcare and everything. You have to be their staple. Sometimes, patients don’t have any family members, so you are that person. It’s a very rewarding job, and I try hard to take the time to get to know my patients on a personal level.”

When not caring for patients, Rapp enjoys horseback riding and spending time with her family. She is married and has a 3-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl.

Steika Rapp, APRN-C, is now seeing patients at the McMurry Family Care Center, alongside Dr. R. Kelly McMurry, Dr. Paul Reed, and Nurse Practitioner Baolong Do. The practice is located at 123 Medical Drive in Guymon, Oklahoma. She is accepting new patients and most major insurances, including Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Medicare, and Kansas and Oklahoma Medicaid.
