Ex-Sheriff’s Deputy Pleads In Child Sex Crime

KSCB News - March 23, 2011 2:55 pm

A former Kearny County sheriff’s deputy will be sentenced May 3 after admitting that he possessed sexually explicit photos of a minor.

Forty-seven-year-old Timothy Rains, of Lakin, was scheduled to go on trial Tuesday on 13 counts of sexual exploitation of a child. But he pleaded guilty on March 10 to three of the counts and 10 counts were dropped.

The Garden City Telegram reported Tuesday that Rains admitted that he had a relationship with a girl younger than 18 and had sexually explicit pictures of her.

Rains, who worked in Kearny County law enforcement for about 20 years, resigned in March 2010.
