Doran Bails Out Saints

KSCB News - April 10, 2009 12:00 am

Seward head coach Galen McSpadden said after the double header on Good Friday in Garden City that his team played poorly. They committed two errors, they made baserunning miscues, and looked baffled against a Garden pitcher with an ERA over six. And that was the game Seward won. They played worse in game two of a split. The Saints took the first game 7-4 and lost game two 6-3. In game one, Bobby Doran (6-2) pitched the distance striking out five and allowing three earned runs. David Cruz went 3-4. Mikel Huston broke a 4-4 tie leading off the sixth with a solo homer for his third of the year. Travis Parker, Jared Broadbent, and Trent Martinez added two hits a piece. In game two, the Broncbusters (29-13, 14-8) roughed up SCCC starter Corey Collings for five runs and 10 hits in the first three innings. Jared Wagner pitched four innings allowing one run in a no decision. Luke Campbell homered for the seventh time this season in the loss. The Saints committed two errors in game one and four in game two. Seward is 26-14 overall and 13-9 in the Jayhawk West. The Saints and Broncbusters play two Saturday at 1 pm on Talkradio 1270 and kscb.net.
