Covid 19 Update

Schools closed-

Miller Mortuary IMPORTANT NOTICE

IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE
As of Tuesday, April 7, 2020 our services will be geared towards Private Immediate Family Members only, which is in line with the governor’s emergency order of limiting public gatherings to help lower the spread of COVID-19. It is our obligation to help protect not only the families we serve but also our staff, our community, and those within it that may be at a higher risk of becoming ill. We fully recognize a family’s need to grieve during their loss and will try to do everything we can to assist them while also taking necessary precautions to protect our friends, families, and our community.

COVID-19 is HIGHLY INFECTIOUS
Miller Mortuary is implementing the following until the Pandemic subsides

*** At-Need Arrangements will be made with 3 people or less in our Arrangement Office.

*** PUBLIC Visitations/Viewings, Funeral, & Memorial Services are temporarily suspended.

*** Private Family Only Funeral Services with Casketed Burials scheduled on or after April 7, 2020 will need to be conducted at the Graveside with under 10 people total, including our staff; 6’ Social Distancing must be observed by all in attendance. Services can be viewed via Facebook Live.

*** Private Family Only Memorial Services with Urn Burial scheduled on or after April 7, 2020 will need to be conducted at the Graveside with under 10 people total, including our staff; 6’ Social Distancing must be observed by all in attendance. Services can be viewed via Facebook Live. *If a Memorial Service without an Urn Burial is desired, we will ask that it be scheduled at a later date once the Pandemic has subsided.

*** Private Family Only Viewings will be limited to IMMEDIATE FAMILY MEMBERS ONLY with under 10 people total, including our staff.

—PLEASE NOTE—
Our recommendation of 10 people for Family Only Viewings is 10 people Total not “10 People In / 10 People Out”. We do not believe that the alternating of 10 people in & out is a safe practice. The Coronavirus/COVID-19 is an airborne respiratory illness; even though we are diligently cleaning our facility there is absolutely no way we can properly sanitize/purify the air within our building between groups to keep everyone safe. If even one person in the first group of 10 is infected then sneezes or coughs we believe the air could also become contaminated, which could then potentially spread the virus to the subsequent groups.

Our primary concern is for the safety and well-being of our community. We know that these are strict measures that have to be taken to protect everybody and we greatly appreciate your trust and support during this difficult time. If anyone has any questions or concerns please call us at 620-624-3844 during office hours of 9am to 5pm.

Sincerely,
Gene McElroy – Miller Mortuary- Owner, Director, & Embalmer
