City Makes Appointments To The JEDC

The Liberal City Commission met for a special meeting Thursday afternoo at the Rock Island Depot. The lone agenda item was the selection of three members from the City, for the Joint Economic Development Council. The city received 6 applications. Applying for positions on the board were Jerry Harding, Dr. Duane Dunn, Ernie Schaffer, Roger Crossman, Doug Lafrenierre, and Don Witzke. After a brief discussion, the commission chose Ernie Schaffer for the 3 year term, Dr. Duane Dunn for the 2 year term, and Don Witzke for the 1 year term. The Executive board of the JEDC will consist of these 3 members, the 3 Seward County appointees, Kevin Clark, Gary Sallaska, Jack Taylor, and Robert Burkey, who was appointed by the Liberal Chamber of Commerce. The board will work with Economic Development Director, Jeff Parsons.
