City Looks to Put to a Vote, an Additional One Cent Sales Tax for 20 years

Joe Denoyer - August 24, 2021 8:31 pm

The Liberal City Commission met Tuesday evening and since the projected mill levy exceeded the Revenue Neutral Rate, the Commission passed Resolution 2362 which allows the Commission to exceed the Revenue Neutral Rate. The Commission then adopted the Budget for the City for 2022.

Also approved by the Commission was a Federal Funds Exchange Draw Request which allows a 90% exchange with the funds the City has, this allows the Draw Request at the 90% rat to come to $251,531.34 which will be utilized to pay for the 2021 Crack and Chip Seal for 2021 up to the City’s amount.

Commissioners also approved the annexation of a parcel of land adjacent to property already in the City Limits on Bluebell Road. This will be used for future industrial development.

After City Revenue discussion, the City Commission came to a concensus to possibly add another one cent sales tax for a 20 year period for discussion and a vote at the next Commission meeting, to add the question to the November ballot.
