Cinco De Mayo Community Celebration This Weekend

Everyone is invited to come out and attend the many events at the 2019 Cinco De Mayo Community Celebration. There will be several activities throughout the weekend to enjoy. The celebration will kick off with the Cinco de Mayo Queen Pageant that will take place Saturday evening at Liberal High School’s James Maskus Auditorium. Doors will open at 6:00pm with the Pageant starting at 7:00pm. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased from any one of the 13 contestants or at the door. Vying for the title of the 2019 Cinco de Mayo Queen is, Alondra Brito, Crisma Tapia, Ali Lucero, Diana Resendez, Alba Torres, Clarissa Carrillo, Chantel Briones, Melanyi Franco, Logan Dodge, Alondra Ioza, Juliet Nava, Alejandra Guitierez, and Darily Carrillo. 2018 Queen Amy Zeledon will say her goodbyes, show a video of her year as queen, and crown the new queen.

On Sunday there will be a downtown parade that will begin at 2:00pm, then the activities will shift to the Seward County Activity Center where the events will begin at 4:00pm.. There will be  the introduction of the Cinco de Mayo Queen, a jalapeno eating contest, screaming contest, food vendors, commercial booths and performances by Andrea Luna and the Omawari Folkloric Dancers from University of Delicias Chihuahua Mexico. Everyone is welcome to Celebrate this cultural celebration
