Cimarron Grasslands Honored With Award

In grateful recognition of 25 years of Weather Observations in cooperation with the National Weather Service, The U.S. Forest Service at Elkhart received the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration HONORED INSTITUTION AWARD.

The U.S. Forest Service USFS, Cimarron National Grassland in Morton and Stevens Counties was honored with this award because they have served as a reporting station for the National Weather Service in SW Kansas for the past 25 years. USFS employees gather weather information daily (max temp, low temp, amount of precipitation, type of precipitation and high wind) and report it in the weather service database.
