Bridge Repairs on Southeast Bypass Bridge to Begin in Dodge City

Traffic will be reduced to one lane and controlled by a traffic signal starting on Monday, Dec. 11, along U.S. 56 south of Dodge City due to a bridge repair project, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.

Signs and cones will mark the lane reduction, and motorists should expect minimal delays while work takes place to replace the expansion joints. The project location is 2.6 miles northeast of the south junction of U.S. 56/ U.S. 283 (southeast bypass bridge) and is marked in red on the map below.

Motorists should also be aware there will be a week when traffic will be delayed up to 30 minutes several evenings in a row due to repositioning bearing pads on the bridge. Once this work is scheduled, updates will be posted to KDOT Southwest Kansas’s Facebook, Twitter (@SWKansasKDOT) pages and KanDrive.gov – please check these websites for updates.

PBX Corporation & Subsidiary of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, is the contractor on this $293,370.03 project, which is expected to be completed by the beginning of January, weather permitting.
