KSCB News - August 10, 2010 12:00 am

The USD 480 Board of Education met Monday for a regularly scheduled meeting. The board had to contact board member Nick Hatcher who was absent by phone to break what was likely to be a 3-3 vote. During the last meeting the the board’s unofficial vote was 4-3 to publish the budget to be up for an official vote last night. Hatcher agreed ahead of time to call in and vote on the budget. After several failed attempts at reaching Hatcher, the board was able to finally get ahold of him and voted on the budget. The budget passed by the same 4-3 margin from the last meeting with Dan Diepenbrock, Hatcher, Stacy Johnson, and Jim Jury in favor of, and Cheryl Louderback, Reid Petty, and Tammy Sutherland-Abbott opposing.

Other items approved by the board was the purchase of the following items with the South Middle Grant with the recommendation of the State Board of Education; The purchases included a cisco switch, HP color laser printers, Samsung LCD projectors, a document camera, HD televisions, classroom sound systems for each class, CPS systems, and Mobi Wireless Tablets. The board also approved counter tops for focus classrooms and approved the Literacy First contract for new teachers.
