The Liberal Bee Jays bounced back with a combined shutout Sunday morning at Eck Stadium in Wichita.  The Bee Jays blanked the Bat Cats 7-0 to move to 1-1 in the NBC World Series.

The Bee Jays broke through in the fifth with a four run inning.  After three walks, Cole Manuel hit a grand slam to left for the 4-0 lead.  Liberal added three in the seventh after Great Bend again walked the bases loaded.  Cooper Kardokus and Cole Manuel hit sacrifice flies to center.  Noah Giovanelli singled home a run.

Liberal out-hit the Bat Cats 5-4.

Brooks Kappelmann worked five scoreless innings allowing three hits.  He worked out of a bases loaded no out jam in the third getting a strikeout and a double play ball.  Braden Whipple tossed three hitless innings with five K’s.  Josh Caravalho had a successful debut as a B.J. with a scoreless ninth.

Cole Manuel was Black Hills Energy Player of the Game going 2-3 with a grand slam and five RBI’s.

Great Bend falls to 24-12 and Liberal is 22-10-1.  The Bee Jays play the Santa Barbara Foresters Tuesday night at 8:30 on 1270 and 92.3 FM.
