The Liberal Bee Jays drop their third straight opener at the NBC World Series.  Friday afternoon at Eck Stadium in Wichita, the Bee Jays lost to the BTL Hornets 7-5.

The Hornets, from Kansas City, scored two in the first.  Liberal scored their lone run in the second thanks to a BTL error.  The Hornets scored on in the second and one in the fourth to lead 4-1.  Cal Anthony whistled a triple to right and scored on an error to make it 4-2 in the seventh.  BTL walked the bases loaded in the eighth with one out.  But after a pair of strikeouts, the Bee Jays did not score.  The Hornets scored three in the eighth on one hit, two walks, and a hit batter.  Liberal rallied in the ninth.  Cooper Kardokus lined a two RBI double to left center.  Cole Manuel ripped an RBI double down the third baseline.

Andrew Banda started and went five innings allowing four runs.

Liberal is 21-10-1.  They play Great Bend Sunday morning at 6am with 5:45 am pre-game if things are on schedule on 1270 and 92.3.
