Braden Whipple struck out 12 batters as the starting pitcher led Liberal Bee Jays past Dodge City A’s 12-6 on Friday at Cavalier Field in Dodge City . Whipple allowed two hits and zero runs over five innings while walking one.
Liberal Bee Jays got on the board in the top of the first inning after Cooper Kardokussingled to center field, Josiah Rojasgrounded out, and Cade Adams singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.
Adin Morehouse singled to center field on an 0-2 count, which helped Dodge City A’stie the game at six in the bottom of the ninth.
Liberal Bee Jays flipped the game on its head in the top of the tenth, scoring six runs on six hits to take the lead, 12-6. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Ben Finnegan that drove in two.
Frank Tinoco stepped on the bump first for Dodge City A’s. The pitcher surrendered five hits and three runs (two earned) over three innings, striking out three and walking one. Jack Taczy, Anthony Edwards, and Braxon Trenkle each appeared in relief for Liberal Bee Jays.
Liberal Bee Jays amassed 15 hits in the game. Noah Giovannelli went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Liberal Bee Jays in hits. Kardokus, Giovannelli, Finnegan, Adam Swanson, and Rojas each drove in two runs for Liberal Bee Jays. Seth Green and Adamseach collected multiple hits for Liberal Bee Jays.
Dodge City A’s amassed 10 hits in the game. Morehouse provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Dodge City A’s with four runs batted in. The catcher went 2-for-4 on the day. Kennedy Drexler, Alejandro Gomez, and Morehouse each collected two hits for Dodge City A’s.
