Area Residents to Become Citizens

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and the U.S. District Court of Kansas will welcome 125 new U.S. citizens Friday at Wichita State University. U.S. Bankruptcy District Judge Eric F Melgren will preside, and a clerk of the court will administer the Oath of Allegiance.
The citizenship candidates originate from 35 countries: Afghanistan, Belarus, Bolivia, Burma, Cambodia, Cameroon, Canada, Congo (Kinshasa), Cuba, El Salvador, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Germany, Ghana, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, India, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Russia, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Thailand, Ukraine, United Kingdom and Vietnam.
The citizenship candidates live in Alstead, Andover, Arkansas City, Bel Aire, Colby, Copeland, Dodge City, Douglass, Garden City, Hays, Holcomb, Independence, Larned, Liberal, McConnell Air Force Base, Montezuma, Park City, Parsons, Salina, Tipton, Ulysses, Valley Center, Wichita and Winfield.
