Activities Planned For OT Month At SWMC

In honor of Occupational Therapy Month in April, the OT Department at Southwest Medical Center is hosting a number of activities which include those on April 14 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.:

The Iron Man grip strength contest will be divided into a male and a female division. OT staff will be administering and using dynometers for measuring the results and then will post findings at a later date. The two highest (one male and one female) shall win a prize for participating.

The Name the Adaptive Equipment contest will test participants knowledge of equipment that O s utilize. Each participant will look at items marked with number 1 to 10 and write down answers on numbered pages. The one that gets them all correct or gets the highest amount correct wins a prize.

A display table with brochures, balloons and posters will be set up in the Garden of Eati Cafeteria.

Contests on April 15 include a Velcro Basketball competition and Velcro Ball Toss for employees and visitors. These contests will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

In the Velcro Basketball competition, each participant will be given three nerf balls with loop Velcro and if all three nerfs go into the net without sticking on anything else (swish/swoosh) they will win a prize.

In the Velcro Ball Toss, only one nerf ball is given for each participant. In order to win, the participants must have their nerf ball land on a number and then choose from that numbered prize boxes. Contests on April 16 include:

An Adaptive Equipment Duck Pond where each participant will be given one chance to use an adaptive reacher to grasp one of the numbered ducks. Each duck will have a number written on the bottom and participants will choose a prize from the numbered prize boxes.

Winners of the word search and grip contest will be announced with prizes awarded.

Events will be open to employees and visitors on April 16 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
