Accident in Gray County Sends One to the Hospital

An injury accident occurred Friday morning at approximately 8:28 am at the intersection of County Road 24 and County Road S, 5.7 miles North of Ensign on 24 road.

A 2013 Peterbilt Semi being driven by Jeffrey Debnam, 44, of Meade was southbound on 24 Road, when he failed to yield at the yield sign, and collided with a 2008 Dodge Charger being driven by Jarred Smith, 33, of Larned. The Charger was east bound on S Road, applied heavy breaking, collided with a fence pole and then into the Semi.

The driver of the Semi, Debnam, was not injured, but Smith was transported to Western Plains Regional Hospital with serious injuries. Seatbelts were in use in both vehicles.
