Liberal City Commission Meets

The Liberal City Commission met Tuesday evening at 6:30pm at the City Commission Chambers, for their regularly scheduled meeting. Among the items on the agenda the commission approved the final reading of Ordinance 4388 which repeals and replaces the former seatbelt law with the new one approved and passed by the State. The Commission also set hearings for the condemnation of several properties in the city. The Public hearings are scheduled for September 14, 2010. Commissioners also approved the purchase of 6 Lenova computer for the Police Department in the amount of $7895.56. This was a savings of over $4000.00 compared to the Dell Computer price. The Commission approved Earles Engineereing as the firm to design the Southern Pioneer Electric Cul-de-sac, and authorized staff to look for a new weed sprayer for the city, but not to exceed $7500.00. Commissioners also approved the purchase of 3 – 1/2 ton pick ups from Foss Ford of Liberal in the ammount of $15,288.00 each. Two will go to the Street Department and one to Arkalon Park. The next regular meeting of the Liberal City Commission is set for August 10. There is a Special meeting set for Wednesday, July 28, with the Focus On The Future Group. On that agenda is the ballot wording for the November election on the renewal of the 1 cent sales tax.
