A Three vehicle accident occurred Saturday morning at approximately 7:33 AM at the US 54 / US 83 Junction in Liberal. A 2017 Hyundai Elantra, being driven by Griselda Martinez, 42, of Liberal and a 2017 Honda Civic being driven by Edwin Mayorga, 18, also of Liberal were stopped at the stop light at the U83/U54 junction. A 2025 Freightliner being driven by Manpreet Mangat, 32, of Fresno California collided with the back of the Elantra, pushing it into the Civic.

Martinez was taken to Southwest Medical Center with suspected serious injuries. Mayorga was also taken to Southwest Medical Center with suspected minor injuries. Manhattan, the driver of the semi was not injured.
