Thursday afternoon at 4:38pm, Guymon Fire Department with assistance from Guymon Police, Texas County Sheriff’s Deputies, and Texas County Emergency Management responded to a 911 call of a structure fire at 3182 Townview Lane on the northeast edge of Guymon.
On Guymon Firefighters’ arrival, they found heavy smoke and fire conditions coming from the rear portion of a mobile home. Firefighters quickly entered and contained the raging fire to one end of the mobile home. “Home was occupied at the time by Adilene Salcido of Guymon and 6 children”, stated Guymon Fire Chief Grant Wadley. All occupants of the home escaped without injury before Firefighters arrival.
Guymon Fire Marshal’s Office investigated finding the cause to be from a dryer in the rear of the home. “It appeared an over abundance of collected clothing lint led to the start of the fire then spread from the dryer to the interior of the room it was located in”, said Chief Wadley.
Texas County Emergency Management and Red Cross are involved in the well-being for the family. Dryer fires are common and can easily be avoided by cleaning your lint traps and exhaust outlets for overabundance of collection. Be vigilant of keeping these areas free of collected lint or debris.
