Carolyn Rosezan (Hayes) Turner

Carolyn Rosezan (Hayes) Turner, age 75, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community in Buhler, Kansas. Carolyn was born the oldest of 6 children, on December 3, 1950, to Norman L. Hayes and Vera R. (Webb) Hayes in St. John, Kansas.

Carolyn graduated from Hudson High School in Hudson, Kansas in 1968. After graduation, Carolyn started her career in the medical field at St. John District Hospital as a Nurse’s Aide.

In 1971, she met her future husband Gale Turner, and they were married on September 11th of that year in St. John, Kansas. They were married for 48 years before he passed away on January 22, 2020. On July 31, 1972, their only child, a daughter, Glenda Joyce, was born.

In 1974 Gale’s job transferred him to Dodge City, Kansas. The family lived in Ensign, Kansas for 5 years, where Carolyn sold Avon, before moving to Elkhart, Kansas. Carolyn went to work for Morton County Health System and did various jobs including, Nurse’s Aide, Ward Clerk, Pharmacy Tech, General Psych Secretary and a Medical Records Clerk for 29 years before Gale retired in 2007 and they moved to Sterling, Kansas to be closer to their daughter. Carolyn worked for the Hutchinson Clinic, first in Radiology and then in the Business Office for 12 years before retiring in 2019. Carolyn enjoyed crocheting, knitting, cross stitching and embroidery. Numerous family members and friends have items she has made.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Glenda Turner of Sterling, Ks; sisters, Evelyn Fehrenbach (Jim), Rose Farmer, Lenora Lampe; and brother, Leonard Hayes (Gale). She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Sheryl Turner; as well as several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Gale; parents, Norman and Vera Hayes; brother, Lonnie Hayes; brothers-in-law, John Farmer and John Lampe; and niece, Kendra Farmer

Graveside service will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Elkhart Cemetery in Elkhart, Kansas, with Jess Lee officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 7 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be given to Elkhart Methodist Church in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950.
