Josephine M. Taul

Josephine M. Taul, age 93, died Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Western Prairie Senior Living Memory Care in Ulysses, Kansas. She was born on February 28, 1932, in Wright, Kansas, the daughter of Salvador DeLa Rosa and Juanita Dee (Santiago) Sosa. 

Josephine attended school in Wright and Johnson, where she graduated. On July 5, 1958, she married Joseph Robert Taul in Johnson. Throughout their married life, they made their home in Wichita, Derby, and Liberal before settling in Ulysses in 1979.

Josephine held a variety of positions over the years, including work with the Seward County Sheriff’s Office, Peoples National Bank, Grant County State Bank, Johnson State Bank, and First National Bank. She later served as an Administrative Assistant for the City of Ulysses.

In her spare time, Josephine was a devoted member of Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church. She was also active in the Red Hat Society, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, where she enjoyed giving her time and talents to the community.

Josephine is survived by her daughter, Leona Diaz and husband, Mark, of Ulysses; son, Trace Taul and wife, Karen, of Wichita; siblings, Amalia Herrin of Valley Station, Kentucky, Salvador Sosa and wife, Sandy, of Liberal, Victor Ledesma, Sr., Gloria P. Hernandez and husband, Trine, Margarita L. Sosa, Johnny S. Sosa, Mark A. Sosa and wife, Idalia, all of Ulysses; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

  

Josephine is preceded in death by her parents, Salvador and Juanita Sosa; husband, Joseph Taul; and siblings, Margarita Limon, Roberto Sosa, and John Sosa.

Rosary will be Sunday, August 17, 2025, at 7:00 PM and Funeral Mass will be Monday, August 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM both at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses, Kansas, with Reverend Eric Gyamfi officiating. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, August 17, 2025, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
