Diana Faye Lightcap, age 70, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025. She was born on July 12, 1954, in Satanta, Kansas, the daughter of Robert and Norma (Beatty) Deyoe.
Diana grew up on her third-generation family farm in Ulysses, Kansas. She was a proud farmer’s daughter and continued to take an active interest in her brother and his sons’ farming operation.
Diana grew up in Ulysses and graduated with the class of 1972. She was involved in many activities in the community and was a member of the local 4-H chapter. She was an excellent piano and organ player. She played at the Home Products Dinner many times, local rodeos, and once for a Kansas City Royals baseball game. She also played the organ for the Home Products Dinner for many years. Diana loved to entertain family and friends in her home for a home cooked meal. She often entertained guests or anyone who had a few minutes to spare by playing music for them.
Diana had a successful life insurance and investment business with Modern Woodman of America and GE Financial Services.
After moving to the Kansas City area, Diana went to work for Schmitt Music, where she sold organs and taught organ lessons. After retiring, Diana enjoyed teaching piano and organ lessons in her home. When the Covid situation happened, she continued to teach her students online and actually taught a good friend who was a classmate, as well as several other students online.
Diana had a strong Christian faith. In her final years, she spent much of her time calling friends or family and praying with them or encouraging them with a funny story. Diana’s entire family recalls the pleasure of family holidays gathering around the organ at the family farm.
