Tamara “Tami” Lynn Rundell, age 56, died Thursday, June 5, 2025, at her son’s home in rural Grant County, Kansas. She was born on February 12, 1969, in Garden City, Kansas, the daughter of Arnold Duane and Linda Carol (Batman) Alexander.
She graduated from Ulysses High School and later pursued her passion for healing and wellness by becoming a certified massage therapist, dedicating herself to the care and comfort of others. On August 10, 1990, Tami married Albert Jay “Gus” Rundell. Together they built a life and raised a large, loving family until his passing in 2004. Tami’s proudest roles in life were being a devoted mother and “Grammy.” She was a source of strength, compassion and laughter to all who knew her. Since 2007, Tami was employed with S&K Enterprises, where her warm heart and strong work ethic made a lasting impact.
Tami is survived by her children, Daniel Alexander and wife Caitlin of Ulysses, Amanda Swimm and husband Ryan of Buena Vista, Colorado, Lacy Rundell and Travis Laurie of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Katherine Rundell of Amarillo, Texas, Heather Rundell of Garden City, Kansas, Rachel Rundell of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Sarah Rundell of Garden City, Kansas, and Cindy Flores and husband Isiah of Ulysses, Kansas; mother, Linda Alexander of Ulysses; brother, Mark Alexander of Ulysses; sisters, Julie Schulze and husband Rick of Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Cindy Rushing and husband Paul of Garland, Texas; and eight grandchildren, Gabriel, Michael, Joanna and Lilly Alexander, Xander Swimm, and Travis Jr., Lydia and Gideon Laurie.
Tami is preceded in death by her husband, Gus Rundell; father, Duane Alexander; brother, Steve Alexander; and sister, Sherri Alexander.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Ulysses, Kansas, with Reverend Kelly Johnson officiating. Graveside service will be at 2:00 PM at the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Garden City, Kansas. Visitation will be Monday, June 9, 2025, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
