LIBERAL —Seward County Community College wrapped up its spring semester in May, but that doesn’t mean classes have halted. Four summer sessions are currently in progress, with another slated to begin July 7. It is not too late for students to join Sessions 3 and 4, which began on Monday, if they act quickly: students can register and enroll in Session 3 classes through end of day Tuesday, June 3, and in Session 4 classes through end of day Wednesday, June 4.
Vice President of Academic Affairs Luke Dowell said the tight schedule is a hallmark of summer coursework.
“Students are learning a semester’s worth of material in a compressed time period, so it’s necessary to view these classes as high-engagement,” he said. “Students should expect to attend class daily and do homework daily in order to complete the work. That said, it’s a great opportunity for those who are a few credits short of where they want to be on a degree plan.”
While many of the summer offerings are filled to capacity, several classes have openings. These include elementary statistics, intermediate algebra, English composition, public speaking, concepts of health and wellness, biology, macroeconomics, and prompt writing for artificial intelligence. Additional classes will be offered in Session 5, which opens July 7.
Students who want to enroll now can stop by campus, which is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, or call Admissions for more information: 620-417-1100. View the entire summer schedule of online classes here or at sccc.edu/academics.
