Larry Creamer, 79, completed his earthly race on May 3, 2025, at the Legacy at Town Square Assisted Living Facility in Amarillo, TX. He was born on January 10, 1946, in Liberal, KS as the 8th child of Melvin and Pauline Creamer. He later became the big brother to three more siblings.
Larry graduated from Hugoton High School in 1964 and attended college for a short time before enlisting in the Army where he served in Korea for 2 years. He then moved to Wichita, KS where he studied computer programming for a year. In 1971, he moved back to Hugoton where he married Bonnie Head, and they proceeded to raise two daughters together. Work was Larry’s passion. If he wasn’t at work, he was building a storage shed, growing delicious tomatoes in his garden or helping the neighbors shingle their roof. He worked for a couple of years with his father at the Hugoton Security Elevator before beginning his 20-year career with Northern Natural Gas/ Enron. He then contracted as a land surveyor for three years and finished up his working days as a line locator for Mobil for 10 years. He retired at the age of 62. Larry’s work ethic carried over into his zeal for volunteer work. He shuttled the veterans from Liberal to the VA hospital in Amarillo for years. He was also an avid volunteer for the school district even after his own children graduated. Children loved his playful nature, and he threw some amazing birthday parties for his daughters. He also enjoyed camping, fishing and cheering on the local college basketball teams. Later in life, he mastered the art of putting puzzles together and maintained the courtyard garden at his retirement home.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Pauline Creamer; his sisters, Rose Ann Lof, Charlene Pennington, Sheila Kneller, Shirley Mitchell, Janice Dyke, and Jo Wise; and brother, Charles “Butch” Creamer.
